About Flying Dragons Club (FDC)
The Flying Dragon Club, in Belmont, California, was founded by Patrick Yin and Alan Xu. After many years of Kung Fu training, our young instructors have started to accumulate the great benefits of Kung Fu. Many of them are top athletes in their schools, from Track & Field to Basketball to Soccer. Most importantly, they are outstanding students with great characters. From instructing the kids, our instructors’ goal is to build strong leadership skills.
Through their determination and hard-working, they have acquired the knowledge of the Kung Fu philosophy – compassion, humility, and moderation. They are starting to understand the importance of harmonizing with nature, people, and themselves. These qualities can rarely be achieved in any other sports.
Bruce Lee once said, “behind the punches, kicks, and knees, a true martial artist learns to sit with himself and see where his weaknesses are”. Our young instructors have found focus and stillness in themselves through their Kung Fu training. They keep themselves fit and healthy. They have learned to take hits, physically and mentally.
Over the years, our young instructors have learned many beneficial skills and gained many unique experiences. They now want to teach these benefits to other children. Therefore, under the supervision of Grandmaster Shifu Grace, the Flying Dragon Club has been founded.
The club’s curriculum is specifically designed for little kids. The kids in each session are in similar ages and fitness levels. We keep our environment safe and non-competitive, so that kids can improve while bonding with their teammates. In addition to getting fit in this club, kids will build a solid Kung Fu foundation. Our young instructors will lead by examples, showing their compassion, confidence, perseverance and work ethic. Together, we’ll start a new journey in our life.
Our experienced and qualified instructors who possess responsibility, confidence, and most importantly love to share with your kids. We, as big brothers and sisters will not only improve kids’ physical strength and flexibility, but also mental strength such as discipline, trust, courage, and teamwork.
Our main mission is to convey these spirits of the quality of big brothers and sisters to your kids by teaching them the courage to face failures and stand up to their fears. Finally, The Flying Dragon Club will accomplish our goal through fun and exciting classes.
I grew up as the son of a Shaolin Kung Fu Master, with six years of Kung Fu training while instructing kids Kung Fu from the ages from six to twelve. Discipline, hard working, responsibility, and teamwork is what I learned from my experience with Kung Fu.
I am very versatile and open minded because I learned a variety of communication skills by volunteering as a tour guide in a museum. I’m also a deep thinker, I tend to find philosophy in everything I can imagine. I use this talent to understand kid’s motivation in order to collaborate with them. Most importantly I use my philosophy to determine answers for my problems and obstacles.
At the age of thirteen, I have over eight years of experience in the field of Kung Fu. Through the years, I have learned many good values such as being patient, persistent and enthusiastic. I have won several trophies in Tiger Claw Kung Fu Championships and other competitions. I have experience in instructing Kung Fu. I believe I can incorporate the many important principles I have learned to make the teachings both enjoyable and beneficial to your kids. My goal is to develop kids physically while motivating and engaging them mentally, ultimately helping them grow to become stronger.
I have been practicing Kung Fu at Pure Shaolin Kung Fu for more than 5 years. Kung Fu has taught me many good personalities and to show more of my own. Through using my sociability and humor, that has earned me many friends that I still have now. When the Shifus have told me to work and help the lower belts with their kicks, defenses and forms, that has helped me bring out my cooperative skills and my skills to help in the fastest way. At the only Kung Fu competition I have went to, I have won 2 second places and 1 first place. What I want to help the kids that join the FD club are to help them bond with their teammates, and meet all their school fitness standards. I hope to teach the kids discipline and the basics of Kung Fu.
I am excited to be a part of the Flying Dragon Club. I have been studying Kung Fu for about 5 years and I am currently a brown belt. Through Kung Fu, I have made many good friends who I would not have met otherwise. Kung Fu has helped me overcome my shyness and build my self-confidence. I am currently a 7th grader at Abbott Middle School. My favorite class is Social Studies because my teacher has creative ideas to make learning fun. My other interests include playing ice hockey for the Redwood City Black Stars as a defensemen (currently retired). In my free time, I like to play videogames with my friends, read, build Legos, and take care of our chickens in the hopes that they will start to lay eggs soon.
We provide one class a week for 10 weeks focused on fun game-centric activities. We are very enthusiastic while instructing these free classes including…
